What you need to know about Raise the Sails 2019: An Amundsen Benefit
What is Raise the Sails?
Raise the Sails is Friends of Amundsen’s largest fundraiser, and will be held this year on Friday, May 3, at Trigger event space, 2810 West Addison St. This 1st of its kind event includes live and silent auctions, raffles, and more! Your ticket includes heavy appetizers, beer, wine, soft drinks and unparalleled community engagement.
When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets go on sale February 16.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are $50 each if purchased by April 26, or $75 each if purchased on or after April 26.
Why attend?
All proceeds from Raise the Sails directly benefit the students at Amundsen High School. This year Friends of Amundsen will purchase over 150 new computers for classrooms. This will double the amount of Chromebooks in use at the school, allowing another 5 teachers and their students to utilize new technology in the classroom every day! It will be fabulous to see the community come together in support of a wonderful cause that will make a real impact on the education of Amundsen students – plus it’s a fun event to mix and mingle with other Amundsen parents, community supporters and enthusiasts!
What should you wear?
The dress code is considered “Snappy Casual!” What does that mean? Well at least it means there’s no need to be formal, but the bottom line is dress ready to have a fun night out.
Do I need to be there on time?
Yes! Please plan to arrive at Trigger at 6 p.m. The action starts early, so don’t miss a thing! All of our amazing parties and dining gift cards will go quick. Don’t miss out by arriving fashionably late. You’ll be happy you were there!
Is there parking available?
Ample street parking is available on California, but we encourage all guests to consider taking an Uber or Lyft for convenience and to enjoy the open bar.
What happens the night of the event?
When you arrive at Trigger, you will be checked in and receive your bidder card number. You will enjoy delicious food and tasty beverages while browsing and bidding on silent auction items, experiences, Amundsen items and parties. The live and silent auctions are the main part of the evening, so set your bids to win! Following are more details about the highlights of the event:
Silent Auction
The silent auction opens early for select items to event attendees on April 30th and then for anyone in the public on May 1. The full silent auction with all items begins promptly at 6 p.m. and is completely online, so be sure to have a phone with you the night of the event to make your bids. You will receive a text message if you have been outbid, and you will be alerted if you are the winning bidder. The person with the highest bid when the auction closes will win!
Live Auction
Get ready to raise your bidder number as our auctioneer leads the bidding for some of the most exciting items available at the auction! Bring your best auction strategies or get your friends together and outbid your fellow Amundsen enthusiasts!
Heads or Tails
Heads or Tails is a fun game where the winner will take home $200 in prizes. How does it work? Look for the volunteers selling beads and they’ll fill you in – trust us, it’s a good time for a mere $25 donation!
Fund-a-Need
Fund-a-Need is a straight donation to help Amundsen raise additional funds for our school without receiving anything in return. Donors can give any amount on their phones through mobile bidding or as part of the Live Auction bidding. During live Fund-a-Need bidding, the auctioneer asks for cash donations in set increments from high to low.
Mystery Wine Pull
For a $20 donation for wine, you will receive a mystery bottle of wine. All bottles in the collection range from good to exceptional. Two lucky winners will also receive a tropical surprise! You will not be disappointed!
Can I still support Raise the Sails even if I can’t come to the event?
Yes! There are many ways to participate both before and during the event:
-
Bid online for select items in the silent auction – look out for the general bidding link on May 1, and then again when the event starts on May 3
-
Make a direct charitable contribution. Your financial donation will be used to purchase new computers for the students of Amundsen High School, helping them achieve their goals and growing our community.
